Nomination and Application Deadlines
Nominations
A nomination survey will be sent by email to all partner universities on:
- January 15 for the fall semester
- July 15 for the spring semester
Shortly after partner nominations are received, International Student and Scholar Services will send application instructions directly to the nominated student by email. When nominating students, be sure to include an accurate email address so that students will receive important email correspondence from our office.
After the student has successfully submitted their application online, they will be admitted on a rolling basis beginning:
- March 1 for the fall semester
- September 1 for the spring semester
Once admitted, International Student and Scholar Services will send an email to students with instructions on how to complete the needed e-forms and upload the following supporting documents through the myIO portal:
- Copy of Passport
- Official University Transcript
- Proof of English Proficiency in ONE of the following ways:
- TOEFL score of 79 or higher (Best Score NOT accepted)
- IELTS score of 6.5 or higher
- Attestation that student is from English-speaking country
- Attestation from university official that student has sufficient English-speaking ability
- Bank Statement/Bank Letter (must be in English)
Note: Paper documents are NOT accepted.
Upon successful completion of the myIO process, International Student and Scholar Services will issue and mail a Form DS-2019 to the student to facilitate the J-1 visa application.
Deadlines
Fall Semester (August-December) and Full Academic Year (August-May):
- Nomination - February 15
- Application - March 1
Spring Semester (January-May):
- Nomination - August 15
- Application - September 1
