Intercultural Outreach Volunteers

Each year, The University of Texas at Austin and Texas Global welcome over a thousand international students to the Longhorn community. The Intercultural Outreach Volunteer (IOV) Program provides UT students the opportunity to get involved in international orientation and other intercultural programming hosted by International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) throughout the semester. Both international and U.S. students are invited to apply. 

Key Responsibilities 

Gain valuable leadership experience while helping international students and scholars feel welcome and connected at UT Austin. As an IOV, you may:  

  • Help welcome new students during International Orientation in January 2027.  
  • Support in-person social events and activities, such as Social Hours and Language Circles, throughout the Spring 2027 semester.  
  • Help highlight international students and events on social media. 
  • Share your experiences and tips for navigating campus and life in Austin. 
  • Contribute ideas for new programs that engage students and scholars.

    • Help build an intercultural community at UT Austin. 
    • Gain volunteer experience through Texas Global. 
    • Have the opportunity to be featured in Texas Global marketing materials and social media.

Eligibility

    • Must have been a UT Austin student for at least one semester prior to the Spring 2027 semester. 
    • Must be enrolled/plan to enroll in Spring 2027. 
    • Must be able to attend a training session in November 2026 and participate in at least one monthly activity during Spring 2027.

Recognition

This is an unpaid, volunteer position. All IOVs who fulfill their commitments receive a Texas Global t-shirt and a Certificate of Appreciation, as well as the opportunity to be featured in various Texas Global publications and social media channels.
