If you want to use what you learn in a classroom to help communities in need and if you like making meaningful connections with diverse people, service learning study abroad is for you. You can make a difference in your chosen host region and engage fully with the local culture and people while earning credit toward your degree.
Service learning is normally one component of a program that offers additional coursework. The type of credit earned for academic service learning is based on the program through which each placement is arranged. Tuition or fees for service learning are determined by the program that arranges the placement. See program information for further details. Many programs also offer non-credit volunteering and service learning opportunities for students interested in experiencing the host community outside of coursework.
The service learning opportunities we offer are very diverse with regards to structure and are available on exchange, affiliated and faculty-led programs during the summer, fall and spring semesters. We work with approximately 30 programs that offer academic service learning opportunities, giving our students access to a wide variety of experiences world-wide.
