Summer Academic English Programs at UT Austin

Want to improve your academic English before your start your degree? We offer three options for international students who have been admitted to UT or another US university for the fall semester.

  • Strengthen your academic English skills and learn about expectations that are emphasized in US higher education and are especially challenging to international students.
  • Classes take place on the UT campus and provide hands-on experience using UT’s library and computer facilities to complete class projects and homework.

Information

Enrolling in our summer programs is quick and easy. Because you have already been admitted to a degree program, you are not required to send us any additional documents. To reserve a place, please send:

  • This form.
  • A non-refundable tuition deposit of US $100

We will send you a personal registration appointment for your program via email or express mail.

For Summer I, Summer II, and MBA programs, you will need a new I-20 in order to enter the US for our English Language Center programs. You may apply for your visa with the UT I-20 you have received, and we will send you a separate I-20 that will allow you to enter the US earlier. You may need to show additional proof of funding to cover the longer I-20 period, depending on the amount shown on your original certificate of financial responsibility (CFR). We will contact you if any additional documentation is needed.

For ITA preparation, you do not need a new I-20, because your UT I-20 for Fall 2019 allows you to enter the US on July 16. Let us know if you have not received your UT I-20 or if you have additional immigration questions.

For Summer I, Summer II, and MBA programs, UT Health insurance (or an equivalent private policy) is mandatory and is NOT included in the cost of tuition. The cost will be added at registration. Coverage for dependents is also available. For ITA preparation, UT health insurance is not mandatory during your English Language Center course; your coverage as a new UT student will begin on August 1.
