  • Jul 6, 2020

Weiwen Zeng, a doctoral student in the Steve Hicks School of Social Work, has developed a new crisis-intervention training program for social workers handling COVID-19 relief in Wuhan, China.

Zeng trained over 200 relief social workers alongside social work professor Cynthia Franklin. Now, they are using their insight and experience in Wuhan to form guidelines and recommendations for first responders elsewhere.

The training program developed for Wuhan has been distributed to social workers across the country through the Council on Social Work Education and the National Association of Social Workers-Texas Chapter and is available online as a pre-recorded session through the School of Social Work website.
