LBJ School Alumna Takes on New Chief Role at UN Agency in Sudan

UT Austin alumna Amy Kalbach (M.G.P.S. ’13) is using her master’s in global policy from the LBJ School for Public Affairs to change the world for the better.
Kalbach recently joined the International Organization for Migration, where she will channel her passion for international development policy. In her new role, she focuses on risk communications and corralling the spread of COVID-19 in the Abyei region on the border between South Sudan and Sudan.
Kalbach first became interested in the Abyei region when she was enrolled at the LBJ School, working on a team project developing a Sudan/South Sudan crisis simulation for the Army War College. Prior to starting her new position, Kalbach worked extensively with humanitarian organizations around the world, including in West Africa, Southeast Asia and the U.S.
