International Longhorns Compete in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics

A total of 26 current and former University of Texas student-athletes have earned spots to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The list of Longhorn Olympians includes one current and one former international student representing their home countries of Canada and Venezuela.
Texas soccer rising senior midfielder Julia Grosso was one of 18 athletes selected to represent Canada Soccer in the women's Olympic football tournament. After earning 24 senior-level caps with Team Canada and securing a roster spot for the FIFA Women's World Cup France in 2019, the Vancouver native converted the decisive penalty kick to lead Canada to victory in the 2021 Olympic gold-medal match in women's soccer.
Jhonattan Vegas from Maturin, Venezuela, is representing Venezuela this summer in men’s golfing. He previously led the Longhorn golf team at three tournaments and placed fifth at the Big Island Intercollegiate in Hawaii and the Hall of Fame Invitational in Houston. In 2007, Vegas graduated from UT Austin with a degree in kinesiology.
