  • Jun 14, 2021

The Blanton Museum of Art has received nearly $100,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) in the Public Humanities Projects category to support its upcoming exhibition, “Painted Cloth: Fashion and Ritual in Colonial Latin America,” set to open in Fall 2022.

The exhibition explores the social roles of textiles and their visual representation in various media produced in Bolivia, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela during the 1600s and 1700s. This is the first time the Blanton has received an NEH exhibition grant. Sixteen NEH grants have been awarded in Texas, with the Blanton being one of two recipients at UT Austin.
