Alumna Wins Outstanding Thesis Award from International Association of Sanskrit Studies

Recent UT alumna Andrea Gutiérrez (Ph.D. ‘20) has received the 2021 DK Award for Outstanding Doctoral Thesis on Sanskrit from the International Association of Sanskrit Studies. Awarded every three years to coincide with the World Sanskrit Conference, the DK Award recognizes outstanding research in Sanskrit studies that is well-presented, original and contributes to the field.

Gutiérrez’s dissertation, entitled “A Genre of its Own: A History of Pākaśāstra and Other Culinary Writing of Early India,” was unanimously selected by the adjudicating committee.
