Chris Abbyad
Nursing
Chris Abbyad’s research focuses on Black/White racism in healthcare, racism experienced by pregnant Black women, smoking cessation, waterpipe use by university students, and smoking during pregnancy. Abbyad also has an interest in cultural awareness and competency having taught nursing in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.
Karma Chavez
Mexican American and Latina/o Studies , Communication Studies, Rhetoric and Writing, American Studies, Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies
Karma Chavez studies social movement building, activist rhetoric, and coalitional politics. Chavez's work emphasizes the rhetorical practices of groups marginalized within existing power structures, but Chavez also attends to rhetoric produced by powerful institutions and actors about marginalized folks and the systems that oppress them.

Tony Keddie is a social historian whose interdisciplinary research focuses broadly on the literary and material remains of Jews and Christians from the Hellenistic period through late antiquity as well as the modern politics of biblical interpretation.

Na'ama Pat-El
Middle Eastern Studies, Linguistics
Na'ama Pat-El is a linguist primarily working with classical Semitic languages. Her interests are historical linguistics, and language change, especially syntax, language contact, and dialectology.
