UT Faculty Awarded Global Virtual Exchange Grants for International Collaborations

Bias in artificially intelligent systems, advanced Russian, semiconductor memory design and global responses to the COVID-19 pandemic are among Texas Global’s latest round of Global Virtual Exchange Initiative funding.
Ten UT faculty were awarded grants at the summer 2020 competition deadline to leverage digital technology to create cross-cultural, project- and problem-based learning experiences for UT students and their peers across the world. They represent six colleges and schools across the university and are partnering with colleagues at 14 institutions across nine countries.
“I am so pleased to witness the continued and growing interest of our faculty in this transnational academic initiative. To date, we have supported 44 faculty to develop and implement virtual exchanges across 6 continents and 29 countries. The upcoming two semesters alone, more than 900 UT and students around the world will benefit from the Global Virtual Exchange Initiative,” said Sonia Feigenbaum, senior vice provost for global engagement and chief international officer. "This robust intra-institutional program enhances the academic experience of our students and faculty and advances the university’s comprehensive global engagement objectives.”
This summer’s grant recipients are the second cohort of faculty to receive a Global Virtual Exchange Initiative award. Texas Global will announce a new deadline for proposal submissions in early September and we look forward to funding additional virtual exchange courses this fall.
