AUSTIN, Texas — Gregory L. Fenves, president of The University of Texas at Austin, is leading a delegation to Asia during the next 10 days as part of the university’s efforts to strengthen its connections and presence in the region.

Provost Maurie McInnis is traveling with the president along with three deans: Jay Hartzell of the McCombs School of Business, Clay Johnston of Dell Medical School and Mark Smith of the Graduate School.

Members of the group will meet with UT Austin alumni, strategic partners and university leaders in six cities: Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The university has strong ties with Asian academic and research institutions. UT has more alumni living abroad in South Korea than in any other country. Japan, China and Singapore are among UT’s most active international partners in research.

“Our partnerships in Asia are important for UT’s continued success as a leading global research university,” said Fenves. “We will continue to seek new collaborations and support from appropriate partners, in the U.S. and internationally, to expand our Asia initiatives.”
