Two Doctoral Candidates Awarded Postdoctoral Fellowships for International Research

After spending several years at UT Austin conducting in-depth research on indigenous populations in Latin America, two doctoral candidates at the LLILAS Benson Center have won postdoctoral fellowships at acclaimed universities to contribute original research on indigenous cultures.
Adriana Linares-Palma will be attending the School for Advanced Research in Santa Fe, New Mexico with the Paloheimo Fellowship, where she will convert her doctoral research thesis about the Ixil communities in her home country of Guatemala into a book manuscript. Angela Tapia Arce will be joining the University of Illinois—Urbana Champaign as a Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow in American Indian Studies. Arce, an Indigenous Quechua scholar from Peru, will conduct research and teach a class on global indigeneity.
