Global UP Program

City of Daejeon, South Korea

Established in 2013 and funded by the City of Daejeon in partnership with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), the Global Innovation Lab works with local companies to support training, perform market research, and the globalization of Korean businesses. The program focuses on the creation of high-impact startups and the facilitation of commercial relationships in the U.S. and other global markets.

The program leverages the Global Innovation Lab’s foundational tools of online curriculum that teach the building blocks of creating a high-impact entrepreneurial venture and research reports that provide an initial technology and market assessment.

Companies are selected and qualified through initial assessment, and global business development activities are supported through:

  • Identification of potential market opportunities
  • Identification and assistance in addressing market challenges
  • Development of leads to potential customers, partners, or investors
  • Coaching in pitching, presenting, and negotiating
  • Assistance in strategy development and re-development
  • Facilitation of international business engagements

Upon completing the program, companies receive detailed business development results and opportunities, which they can leverage to further align with and achieve their business objectives.
