You’re a Longhorn for life and part of a global community of more than 500,000 alumni across 170+ countries. The relationships you built on the Forty Acres and the network you now have will continue to be a powerful resource throughout your personal and professional pursuits. Texas Global is working to expand opportunities for UT alumni around the world to stay connected with each other and with The University of Texas at Austin. Explore some of the ways highlighted below you can get involved, give back, and keep in touch with Longhorns across the globe.
Participate in an Alumni Panel
Volunteer as an alumni speaker at university events and symposiums such as Global Professional Training or career resource workshops and offer your wisdom and advice to recent graduates entering the workforce and exploring international careers.
We Want to Celebrate You
Inspire your fellow Longhorns by offering what is unique to you: your experience. Let us know about your achievements so we can celebrate you. Describe your career trajectory to motivate recent graduates. Reminisce about your days on campus. Or share your involvement in your community or a holiday of national significance and how you observe it. Whatever your story, we want to hear it.
Share Your Story
Host an Intern
Real world experience, especially in an international setting, will help Longhorns set themselves apart as they begin and advance in their careers. If you would like to discuss hosting UT Austin interns at your place of work, let us know and we’ll follow up to discuss details.
Be a Mentor
UT Austin colleges and schools offer multiple opportunities for mentorship, and Texas Global is building a program focused on global careers. We’ll use the HookedIn platform to match you with a current student or recent graduate interested in learning more about living and working internationally. A minimum commitment of time makes a big impact!
Organize an Event
The Texas Global team travels all over the world to meet with alumni and hear their ideas. Students on education abroad programs are always looking to network and connect with alumni. New students appreciate send offs organized by alumni in their home countries, and prospective students and parents are always seeking information about the UT Austin experience from their peers. If you can host a group or help organize an event, get in touch.
Congratulate Future Classes of International Students
Be a part of the celebration for graduating international students by sending a special video tribute. Take a quick video or send in photos and remarks to congratulate the international graduates.
For optimal recording, make sure your environment is quiet and well-lit. Hold your phone steady and horizontally. Have fun and don’t forget to throw up those Hook `Em horns! Example greetings:
- “Congratulations from all the Texas Exes in Mexico City”
- “This is Andrew from Singapore, class of 2004, and I want to congratulate all the international Longhorns graduating this year"
- “Welcome to the global Longhorn alumni community”
- Your own personalized congratulations and advice
