Global Career Launch: Faculty-Driven Internships and Research

The Global Career Launch is an innovative comprehensive global internship framework for undergraduate and graduate students to engage in high-impact work and research experiences abroad. With three tracks, (a) faculty-driven, (b) corporate, and (c) third-party internships, UT’s goal is to strategically increase the number of international internships by supporting prospective participants with partial funding, advising, and sustained engagement.

Faculty-Driven Internships and Research Track

Faculty-Driven Internships and Research are identified and coordinated by faculty based on their connections at universities, research centers, corporations and other organizations.

Program Scope

Faculty with an established relationship at a university or with an industry partner abroad to serve as faculty director leading and supporting cohorts of up 10 students as they intern or conduct research with said collaborator/institution. Students in each cohort need not pursue the same academic field of study. Interdisciplinarity is encouraged and the faculty’s research or teaching do not need to align with students’ internships.

Proposal Requirements

Faculty must have an existing international partner; demonstrate their ability to recruit a minimum of 5 students per year; commit to developing a high impact learning model; collaborate with and be responsive to all policies set forth by Texas Global; and direct the program for a minimum of two years, with evidence that the model is sustainable past year three.

Tenure and non-tenure track faculty, lecturers, and professors of the practice, with a minimum of three years of experience at UT Austin.
