Fiona Mazurenko is the inaugural director of global initiatives and alumni relations at The University of Texas at Austin. With an unwavering commitment to elevating the University's global reach and impact, Fiona orchestrates a comprehensive strategy that both broadens and deepens UT Austin's connections with its esteemed alumni and partners worldwide.

In her capacity, Fiona collaborates with colleges, schools, and units across campus to develop and implement an outreach blueprint that fosters meaningful interactions between faculty, students, and global alumni community – on campus, around the world, and leveraging technology. Fiona's portfolio also encompasses Texas Global endowments and scholarships; philanthropy and donor relations; faculty grants and engagement; mapping internationalization; and institutional agreements. Her team works to cultivate strategic partnerships on a global scale, propelling the university's academic mission and strategic plan forward.

Having served previously as the inaugural director of global alumni relations and assistant director of communications at Texas Global, Fiona’s dedication to international education at UT Austin has contributed to shaping the University’s global narrative through storytelling and award-winning websites, producing Texas Global’s first impact and global engagement reports, and raising more than $10M in support of students, programs and transnational initiatives.

Fiona joined UT Austin in 2014 with a background in international education, community development and affordable housing. She led campaigns that collectively raised over $4 million while spearheading rebranding efforts, website overhauls, and communication and marketing strategies across several non-profit organizations in Austin.

A Longhorn herself, Fiona earned a master's degree from the LBJ School of Public Affairs following bachelor's degrees in international relations and French from the University of Richmond. Her international experience spans 30 countries across five continents. She has spent a cumulative 12 years living in Indonesia, Ukraine, and France, and developed an innate ability to adapt and thrive in diverse cultural landscapes. Fiona's passion for connecting people and mutual understanding is further underscored by her service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine from 2004 to 2006. It's this commitment to fostering international understanding, collaboration, and progress that continues to drive her work at UT Austin.
