Luis Baeza, Ph.D.

Born in Chihuahua City, Mexico, and raised in Presidio, Texas. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Sul Ross State University and his master’s and Ph.D. at Texas State University. He has worked in higher education for more than ten years, supporting students, scholars, and international programs. Before joining Global Risk & Safety at UT Austin, he served as the Latin American Visitor Coordinator at the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies (LLILAS Benson).
A passionate traveler, he has visited Australia, Greece, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, and Japan, and hopes to add many more destinations to his list. He has called Austin home since 2015 and loves exploring everything the city has to offer.
Outside of work, he enjoys exploring Austin, playing videogames, planning his next adventure, and organizing game nights with friends. He loves good food, great company, and discovering new places. Whether helping solve a problem at work or planning his next trip, he’s always up for a new adventure.
