Luis Baeza, Ph.D.

Born in Chihuahua City, Mexico, Luis was raised in Presidio, Texas, a town in west Texas that he describes as being “so small that there is not a single stop sign, with mostly dirt roads and one grocery store.” He earned his bachelor's degree at Sul Ross State University, his master's and Ph.D. at Texas State University.

Luis has worked in higher education for almost ten years, most recently at the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies, where he served as the Latin American Visitor Coordinator.

Luis has traveled abroad to Australia, Greece, Italy, New Zealand and Spain, and hopes to add more countries to that list in the near future. He has lived in Austin since 2015, and loves the city. In his spare time, he enjoys partaking in the live music scene and is a huge fan of superhero and scary movies.
