Crystal Kusey studied abroad in Seville, Spain and in Buenos Aires, Argentina prior to earning a B.A. in English Literature and Spanish from The University of Texas at Austin. She taught English in South Korea before returning to UT Austin to pursue an M.A. in Foreign Language Education (FLE). Currently, she is a doctoral candidate in FLE at UT Austin where her research interests include second language interaction and intercultural communication, as well as second language motivation particularly in the realm of English pronunciation. Crystal’s teaching experience with students from various backgrounds has not only deepened her appreciation for the intricacies and richness of the English language, but has also given her a deep respect for the people who strive to master it. She feels fortunate to have the opportunity to meet amazing students who not only inspire her to think about the world and its people in new ways, but also give her joy on a daily basis. In her free time, Crystal enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, swimming, and spending time with friends and family.
