Jill Rolston-Yates has over 30 years of experience designing programs, developing curriculum, managing faculty, and teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages overseas and in Secondary, Adult, Intensive English, and Higher Education settings. Her experience includes teaching and opening language schools throughout Japan, teaching immigrants and refugees in public schools in Southern California and Texas, and leading professional development for public school teachers and university professors from Japan, Korea, Uruguay, Mexico, Egypt, Colombia, Iraq, and the United States.
She also has extensive experience teaching and administering Intensive English Programs, including at the University of Hawaii, Texas Intensive English Program, The University of Texas at Austin, and Texas State University. In addition, she has authored two English Conversation texts, Genbai no Eikaiwa, 1 & 2, with GEOS Publications, Japan, and presented at various state and international TESOL conferences. She served ten years on the TexTESOL III board across multiple leadership positions, including President. She currently serves on the Austin Oita (Japan) Sister City Committee, leading the annual educational exchange program.
She holds a BA from Whitman College in Psychology and Theater, an MFA from the University of Hawaii in Asian Theater, and an Adult Education Credential in ESL from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is also certified to teach ELA & ESL, grades 7-12 in Texas. She loves traveling with her family and teaching yoga & Pilates in her free time.
