Anne Saldívar joins Texas Global as our Peace Corps Recruiter/Information Systems Coordinator. Following a decade of direct social services work, Anne served as a Peace Corps volunteer training Special Education teachers in Jordan from 2010-2012 and continues to serve as the Heart of Texas Peace Corps Association’s Communications Chair. She earned her Masters of Science at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, with funding from the Paul D. Coverdell Fellows Program. She interned in the Office of Health Services at Peace Corps Headquarters in DC before working with various international and university partnerships at the National Institutes of Health. While earning her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from St. Edward’s University, she studied in France and later served as an AmeriCorps volunteer in Austin. Studying abroad and serving as an AmeriCorps- and later Peace Corps- volunteer were transformative and fundamental experiences in her life. She remains passionate about making travel more accessible, promoting experiential learning, and is driven to work with students to make these experiences a part of their learning journey as well.
She appreciates adventure and has creatively made travel more affordable for herself by studying cooking in Oaxaca, Mexico with a community college course; volunteering with World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) in Italy and Croatia; and participating in guest stays at various Zen Centers over the years. Anne speaks intermediate Arabic and continues to study Spanish, alongside her child who is in an AISD Spanish immersion classroom. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling near and far, gardening, and maximizing time in nature with her family.
