Listen to poet and journalist Myriam Moscona speak about the Ladino language, her re-encounter with it when she was already a well-established literary figure as well as her motivation and experiences writing contemporary literature in a language of whom few speakers are alive today.

Born in Mexico City to Bulgarian-Sephardic parents, Moscona was drawn to search for her roots, traveling to Bulgaria and mastering Ladino. Her highly praised autobiographical novel Tela de sevoya tells the story of these experiences while leading the Spanish-language reader to learn some Judeo-Spanish. Moscona then edited Por mi boka, an anthology of Ladino texts, with Jacobo Sefamí. In her collection of poetry, Ansina, each text has a Spanish and a Ladino version.
