Prof. Syed Akbar Hyder on "From Islamabad to Malihabad: Alternative Reform Voices in Urdu Literature"
Syed Akbar Hyder (UT Austin - Asian Studies) will give a talk titled "From Islamabad to Malihabad: Alternative Reform Voices in Urdu Literature" as part of the Fall 2020 South Asia Seminar Series. Hyder will explore the ways in which Urdu writers contest the privileging of seventh-century Arabia as Islam's formative context.
The seminar theme is "For the Times They Are A-Changin': Perspectives on the Study of South Asia" convened by Janice Leoshko and Sharmila Rudrappa.
