Navigating the United States Financial System

Moving to a new country can be exciting but also challenging, especially when it comes to understanding the U.S. financial system. This session will cover practical steps for obtaining and using an Individual Taxpayer ID Number (ITIN), choosing and opening bank accounts, and building your credit history.

Who should attend? 

  •  Any UT Austin student or scholar new to the United States
  • Any University staff or faculty supporting incoming international students or scholars

Presented in partnership between UFCU and Texas Global/ISSS to promote financial wellness for international students and scholars. This seminar is part of ISSS’s Wellness Fridays fall 2025 event series.
