Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program for Egypt
UT Austin was one of eight U.S. institutions selected to host the Junior Faculty Development Program. The program was administered by AMIDEAST and sponsored by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
During the 10-week intensive program focused on renewable energy and engineering, faculty members were introduced to new teaching and research methods, observed classes, attended seminars, and developed linkages with American faculty through weekly mentoring sessions.
The objectives of the program were to:
- Build higher education capacity in Egypt through faculty development and mentoring for junior faculty members.
- Foster long-term collaboration and institutional linkages between Egyptian and U.S. academics.
- Promote mutual understanding between Egyptians and Americans by facilitating the scholars’ engagement with the broader host campus community.
