Current Grant Programs

Bundeswehr

Since its beginning in 1979, the Bundeswehr Summer Program has brought students from the Universität der Bundeswehr München to The University of Texas at Austin for a US Academic and Cultural immersion experience. Bundeswehr students audit two courses during the second summer session, which provides the opportunity to attend class with other US students and witness how a US classroom operates. Additionally, students have the opportunity to engage in team building activities and cultural excursions to complement their classroom experience.

Business Leaders

Texas Global hosts Russian Business Leaders (RBL), Uzbekistan Business Leaders (UBL), Ukrainian Business Leaders-Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship (UBL-PIE), Professional Fellows Program (PFP Europe/Eurasia) and Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program (YSEALI PFP) Fellows. These young professionals gain practical experience through professionally relevant, tailored four-week fellowships at a wide variety of businesses, non-profits, accelerators, and other related institutions in the greater Austin area. These fellowships are administered by American Councils for International Education with funding from the U.S. Embassy in Russia (RBL), the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan (UBL), and the U.S. Department of State (UBL-PIE and YSEALI PFP).

Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program (IYLEP) for Undergraduates

In partnership with World Learning, Texas Global hosts the Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program for undergraduate students. This program enables students at the undergraduate university level to develop leadership skills and build action plans to strengthen the future of Iraq and the U.S. IYLEP for Undergraduates is funded by the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.

Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders (MWF-YAL)

Since 2014, The University of Texas at Austin has hosted the prestigious Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). Through this initiative, young African leaders are gaining the skills and connections they need to accelerate their own career trajectories and robustly contribute to strengthening democratic institutions, spurring economic growth, and enhancing peace and security in Africa. MWF-YAL is a program of the U.S. Department of State and administered by IREX.

Russian Business Leaders

In collaboration with American Councils for International Education and the U.S. Embassy, Texas Global has hosted Russian Business Leader fellows since 2016. These young professionals gain practical experience through professionally relevant, tailored four-week fellowships at a wide variety of businesses, non-profits, accelerators, and other related institutions in the greater Austin area. The fellowship is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Russia and the U.S. Department of State.

Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI)

Since 2016, The University of Texas at Austin has hosted the prestigious Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative Professional Fellows Program. YLAI empowers entrepreneurs and innovative civil society leaders to strengthen their capacity to launch and advance their entrepreneurial ideas and effectively contribute to social and economic development in their communities. YLAI is a program of the U.S. Department of State and administered by IREX.

Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) 

 

Each fall and spring since 2021, Texas Global has partnered with the Global Training and Development Institute at the University of Connecticut to host Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Academic Fellows Program cohorts. YSEALI is a program of the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by the University of Connecticut. The University of Texas at Austin is a sub-grantee of the University of Connecticut and is an implementing partner with the University of Connecticut.
