Our research efforts around the globe strive to address and solve diverse challenges that make a positive impact throughout the world.  We collaborate with foreign institutions, create corporate research partnerships and work strategically with foundations to further research in areas of critical need.

The research experience for students, both undergraduate and graduate, provides the opportunity to work alongside some of the most innovative faculty in the world.

Bridging Barriers

Bridging Barriers serves as an incubator for some of the boldest interdisciplinary projects at The University of Texas at Austin by supporting researchers from across the Forty Acres as they form broad teams tasked with identifying and addressing our most pressing social, environmental, and humanitarian crises. 

International Research Collaborations


ConTex was established by the University of Texas System to support a program of cooperation with Mexico's National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT). This program expands current collaboration with CONACYT and many other first-rate academic institutions in Mexico. ConTex is committed to fostering mutually beneficial collaborations between the United States and Mexico through training, research and scientific discovery.

UT Austin-Mexico Initiative

The purpose of The University of Texas at Austin – Mexico Initiative is to develop interdisciplinary collaboration with Mexican educational and scientific organizations by fostering and facilitating opportunities to enhance our mutual mission in education and scientific research.

France-UT Endowed Excellence Fund

The France-UT Endowed Excellence Fund has a two-fold mission: to support research collaborations between faculty at UT Austin and institutions in France through travel awards and student stipends; and to facilitate awareness and connections across the UT Austin community for French culture, workforce and education.

President’s Award for Global Learning

The President’s Award for Global Learning allows faculty and students across academic disciplines to innovate and explore new ideas and solutions in the areas of research, entrepreneurship and social impact in seven regions across the world, covering more than half of the world’s population. The President’s Award for Global Learning has transformed global learning opportunities at UT and inspired our campus to think about the world’s most pressing challenges in a new way. It has empowered students and faculty to innovate in ways that benefit not only communities around the world but also in Texas.
