Immunization & TB Requirements

Please note that Texas Global cannot answer questions or offer guidance about vaccination and TB screening. For questions about these issues, contact UHS directly.

International students cannot register for classes until they have submitted documentation to University Health Services (UHS) that they have met certain requirements.

  1. Proof of a meningococcal (bacterial meningitis) vaccine that was administered within five years of the first official day of classes and no later than ten days before the first day of the semester. Go to UHS Website for more information on the meningococcal vaccine requirement.
  2. Proof of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella
  3. A tuberculosis (TB) screening test performed in the United States

Please print the TB and Vaccination History for International Students form and have your healthcare provider complete and sign it. If you are outside the United States, DO NOT complete the TB screening portion unless you can get the IGRA (Quantiferon) blood test in your home country, submit your results in English, and include a copy of the lab report. If there is difficulty with translation, interpretation of results, or legibility of documents presented to UHS, you may be asked to repeat the test.

Take the completed, signed form with your immunization records to the UHS Allergy/Immunization Clinic as soon as possible upon arrival in Austin (Student Services Building 2.104). It can take up to five days to lift your medical registration bar after getting the TB screening blood test, depending upon the result. If your healthcare provider cannot complete the form, provide an alternate form of immunization documentation to UHS if you have it.

Check Medical Requirements for International Students for details about medical clearance requirement.
