Megan Peyton joined the Texas Global team as the Academic Records Program Coordinator in December 2021 and is excited to help Longhorns achieve their education abroad goals. She graduated from UT in 2009 with a degree in Photojournalism and a certificate in Social Entrepreneurship and Nonprofits from the Bridging Disciplines program.

During her time at UT, Megan traveled to India and Paraguay with a visual storytelling student organization to document social change abroad. After graduating, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Guatemalan highlands working with local schools to improve health outcomes through water and sanitation hygiene projects. Not ready to return home, Megan continued living and working in Guatemala as the Development Director for a medical clinic just outside the city of Quetzaltenango.

Upon her return to Austin in 2014, Megan worked in operations, development, and communications in the nonprofit sector before returning to school to obtain her Master of Education from Texas State University. Before joining the Texas Education Abroad team, Megan worked as a bilingual elementary educator.

Outside of work, you’ll find Megan hiking nearby trails or camping in state parks across Texas. She relishes cups of coffee, the NYT mini-crossword, and planning trips around local food discovery.
