Asher Diaz joined The University of Texas at Austin in April 2017 as webmaster for Texas Global, where he manages the strategic development, maintenance and front-end configuration of one of the university’s largest websites and its related web properties.
As an avid learner, Asher earned his B.A. in English from Ohio University and M.A. in gender studies from DePaul University. He also holds a certificate in web application development from Tech Elevator Code School and completed an immersive Spanish language program at the Center for Interamerican Studies in Cuenca, Ecuador.
Previously, Asher worked as a communications specialist at DePaul University in Chicago, where he launched a responsive SharePoint website for the university’s largest administrative division, Enrollment Management and Marketing. He’s also served as a contributor for NPR’s Latino USA and The Takeaway, worked as a community outreach coordinator to alleviate the housing crisis in Ohio, and interned at the U.S. National Archives in Washington, DC.
In his spare time, he enjoys staying active outdoors with hiking and Camp Gladiator, patronizing the local library, and is a frequent attendee at local “Astronomy on Tap” events. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, he currently lives in Austin, Texas.
